Blogger – Kiss Jay sends a piece of advise to upcoming artists

Zambian Blogger and music promoter – Kiss Jay shares his knowledge with upcoming artists.

He wrote:

Dear Upcoming Artists, A feature with a big artist is nothing without good Promotion strategies. Here is my advise

As an upcoming artist, You will always be stressed since your dream will be winning people’s hearts so they can accept you and your music (Blow).

A lot of upcoming artists think doing a song with an established artist is a shortcut way to success in this industry but Wrong. A good song finds it’s way to the audience it deserve but how?

The problem is, Upcoming Artists can pay for a studio session and fail to pay for promotion and be like “Hey Kiss Jay, I have a song that I would love you to help me promote it”, What do we do? We don’t open such messages since there is a word “HELP” that does not exist in this industry.

What should you do?
Pay for Studio session and get your song produced by producers that know your sound, Do not drop the song but hustle for money and drop it if you have a reasonable budget good for promotion. So you can pay a big artist K5Pin or more for a feature, Get your song on sites and you are done? šŸ˜‚
NO bro, That’s just the first step.

Imagine if you did a song alone and use that 5pin you were supposed to pay a big artist on promotion?

Never should you beg these big names coz they will need you when you make your brand attractive. These big names are also upcoming artists somewhere.
The thing is upcoming artists be like “Hello baā€¦ I want you to sign me or maybe be my manager” but do you know what a manager is? That means you are approaching someone asking him to start spending his pocket money on your craft when he is also investing in his brand so he can remain relevant in the industry and moving on to a next level since a lot of artists want to go international. Your big artist is an upcoming artist to Davido, Burnaboy etc and you are an upcoming artist to him. No one has it all

If you have less knowledge on music promotion, Reach out to a few bloggers/music icons that you think can advise you and get you a budget you can afford.

NOTE: Never release a song if you don’t have a budget written down for you for promotion because anything below K5000 is not a good budget to promote a song.
