Mulaza Kaira who is popularly known as Macky 2 was this week’s guest at the Yatu Vibes show with PMC.
On the show (Interview), Macky 2 talks about a lot of things going on in the music industry like the Olijaba Entertainments which is his new record label where he signed Frisky MC, NBs Andrey, Frank Ro and a lot more upcoming artists. He also talked about Slapdee when he stepped down from being the XYZ Entertainments CEO leaving the crown with Bobby East as the new CEO, Yo Maps filling Up the heroes stadium, His retirement and the first international award he bagged weeks ago at the AMVCA in Nigeria when he was awarded the best Unscripted show with his King Buga reality show.
Macky 2 says Slapdee stepping down to giving Bobby East the crown was a good idea. The rapper says he also did the same at Alpha Entertainments and he is just an artist there at the moment with no higher place at the label.
He further said his retirement announcement was not fake. “I just thought I needed to take a step back and do more of the back ground work”. Macky 2 thinks we have good music that is capable of crossing borders but there are some things that need to be put in place before Zambian Music can break records.
According to Macky 2, He thought of retiring to do more of background work under artist management and build things that are missing in the industry so that Zambian Music can compete internationally. “Doing a song with Fally Ipupa, Patoranking, Harmonize or any other international artist doesn’t guarantee you the song’s success, You can have good features and good songs but still fail to get it internationally because there are things that are missing in the industry and I retired just to make sure I get some of these things fixed” Said Macky 2.
Macky 2 when asked about Yo Maps’s fill up heroes stadium show was speechless. He explained it marking Yo Maps as an artist that fights for what he believe in. “Just the audacity of an artist saying I will launch my album in a stadium of 60,000 capacity is something that everyone should be proud of” – Macky 2.
